DJ-Kicks: Logic1000

In 2024, Samantha Poulter, aka Logic1000, had an exceptionally busy year. After a series of successful singles and EPs, she released her highly anticipated debut album Mother, which earned widespread acclaim. She graced the cover of NME, was named DJ Mag’s Album of the Month, and delivered a standout Boiler Room session, among other achievements. She also launched the Therapy podcast, featuring guests like Jayda G and Aluna, and toured globally, including her Glastonbury debut. All this while balancing her role as a dedicated mother and activist.

When asked to contribute to !K7’s iconic DJ-Kicks series, Poulter aimed to create a sense of calm and home. “This mix reflects my listening habits over the past few years,” she explains. “I’ve slowed down and gone deeper with the music I love, especially since becoming a mother. This music adds to the calmness in my home life.”

The mix starts with serene, atmospheric tracks and gradually builds, blending introspective experimentalism with dubby, downtempo beats. Exclusive Logic1000 tracks, including under the sun, beneath the rainfall and fused, seamlessly fit into this peaceful flow while showcasing a different side of her sound. Poulter’s personal touch shines through in the tracks contributed by her close friends, Big Ever and DJ Plead, and the mix also introduces new collaborators like Qendresa.

Though this mix is a shift from her usual club-ready music, it feels true to her essence. As she puts it, DJ-Kicks is the perfect platform for this more introspective work, and her hope is that it inspires listeners to start their day with calm, reflection, and beauty.
