We’re very excited to announce we’ve welcomed a brand new label to the !K7 Music label group. Soul Bank Music will focus on the world of jazz, soul, disco, funk, African and latin music – under the stewardship of musician, record producer, DJ & broadcaster Greg Boraman. Soul Bank’s releases will range from the left-field and underground to the crossover and mainstream, the Soul Bank Music growing artist roster includes Kylie Auldist, Craig Charles and Tamil Rogeon.
The debut Soul Bank Music release is the 2 track single by ‘Melbourne’s High Priestess Of Soul’ Kylie Auldist. And you can listen here. It’s the first single from the upcoming album ‘This is What Happiness Looks Like’
Craig Charles has been a soul & funk evangelist via his 6Music and BBC Radio 2 shows and club nights for nearly 20 years. His brand new ‘Trunk Of Funk’ compilation series, will blend up-tempo club classics, with fresh music from the cream of the crop from the contemporary soul and funk scene, and will be Craigs very first vinyl release – a beautiful, double vinyl gatefold LP. Craig states; “I can’t wait to get my groove on with Soul Bank Music and look forward to bringing you big beats, bass lines and booga-bloomin-loo! Presenting The Craig Charles Trunk Of Funk Volume 1 as my first ever vinyl release has put a proper wiggle in my walk”
Tamil Rogeon is a viola player, orchestral arranger & conductor – who is renowned for his orchestral electronic band The Raah Project, the orchestral 24 Hours In Lapa album, and the award winning Bermuda Harvey Sutherland Ensemble. His forthcoming debut modal jazz fusion project Son Of Nyx blends his viola playing with synthesisers and an acoustic spiritual jazz sound, it’s epic, lush and ethereal – especially with the wordless choral vocals of Allysha Joy and Jace XL and Ladi Tiaryn Griggs and hints at the electronic jazz fusion music of the 70s and early 80s, is very much a product of 21st century creativity and is arguably the most original and striking project to happen in the jazz resurgence of recent years.
