Lyra Pramuk – Hymnal

“Music has been a sacred practice throughout human history – a socially connective ritual between humans, animals, and the Earth. It is a medicine and a collective, common good that we all have a right to.”

With Hymnal, Berlin-based American artist Lyra Pramuk delivers a bold, emotionally charged album that blends experimental vocals, strings, and electronic production. Drawing from classical training and club culture, she creates what she calls a “radical and primal polyphony” — a healing sound rooted in connection and transformation.

The album features collaborations with Sonar Quartett, poet Nadia Marcus, and artist Jenna Sutela. A unique visual score was even created by slime mould Physarum polycephalum, guiding vocal improvisations in a John Cage-inspired experiment.

“Hymnal is Lyra’s own book of worship songs: for the Earth, the cosmos, and all life-forms, living and dead.” Recorded in sacred spaces — from a Venetian cathedral to a Dolomite cabin — the album responds to ecological and social crises with a call to remember music’s communal, spiritual roots.

A co-release on 7K! and Lyra’s new imprint, pop.soil.
