Alpha is the first album from Matthew Dear’s techno alias Audion in over a decade, and it couldn’t come at a better time. Dear’s work as Audion captures what we love most about techno: propulsive rhythms, infectious basslines that morph with the track’s progression, and a sense of fun that is missing from all too many productions.
Before the full album drops on 10th June, Dear has shared one of the album’s many dancefloor weapons “Timewarp” for an advance stream. “‘Timewarp’ was made for my live set at the legendary festival of the same name,” Dear explained in an email to The FADER, who premiered the track. “I started it in a hotel and tested at the festival. It worked well, and I returned to the studio later that week to finalize it.”
Alpha arrives 10th June on CD, LP & digital formats. Pre-orders are available now.
